 2017 Preview 


       Cottage Hill Christian completed the 2016 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Cottage Hill Christian finished sixth in Class 3A region one with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Warriors have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2007 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history.

       Cottage Hill Christian struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 35.1 points a game.

       Since 2010, the Cottage Hill Christian football program has struggled with a record of 18-51.

       Over the past 16 seasons, Cottage Hill Christian has not won much with a record of 53-105. Their 34.0% winning percentage ranks 50th in Class 3A and 323rd in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2010.

       The Warriors are led by head coach David Peebles who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at Cottage Hill Christian. The Warriors saw improvement from a 2-8 record the season before coach Peebles arrived. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Peebles.

       Coach Peebles' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 4-6 (40.0%).

       The Cottage Hill Christian Warriors will play in Class 3A region one during the 2017 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Warriors could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region one this season. Cottage Hill Christian has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2007 but hope to return to the post season this year.

       The Warriors open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent Satsuma on Friday, August 25 at Kingdom Stadium. Last year the Satsuma Gators finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region one. The Gators lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to St. James by a score of 49-21.

       Cottage Hill Christian and Satsuma have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 2-4-0 record against the Gators. They last met in 2016 with Satsuma winning by a score of 47-14.

       Cottage Hill Christian returns 3A All-State Senior running back Reggie Rayford. He was named to the honorable mention team last season.
